First the Yummy part:

YUMBERRY, or yang mei as it is known in China, sounds more like the creation of an advertising agency — like Cherry Garcia or Juicy Fruit.  But while the name was dreamed up a few years ago to help sell the fruit’s juice, the fruit has been grown for 2,000 years in China.  It’s so popular there that about twice as many acres are devoted to growing it as the number devoted to apple orchards in the United States.  There are yang mei festivals and pick-your-own orchards in the main growing area, Zhejiang province, south of Shanghai.  Vendors by the side of country roads sell yang mei in little baskets covered with ferns, and visitors sit under the trees and feast on ripe fruit.  The picture below is of a basket of yumberry and mangosteen fruit.  The yumberry is fruit is toward the rear of the basket.  It's really quite good.

The following are unbiased facts about coral calcium with regard to Marine (Sea) Coral Calcium vs. Fossilized (Land) Coral Calcium and various claims made about the product. There still are unethical and unlicensed harvesters who are destroying this natural resource for pure profit. Luckily 99.9% of the Coral products sold in the USA come from licensed, ethical contractors.

Sango Coral Calcium is basically another name or alias for marine coral calcium - so all Okinawan Marine Coral is Sango. Some say “Sango” is the best, that’s just pure marketing.

Robert Barefoot: Mr. Barefoot is often mistaken for a Doctor; he is not an MD or other type of medical practitioner. Mr. Barefoot is a biochemist who has specialized in the study of minerals, an author, a dynamic lecturer, and businessman. Like other charismatic promoters, Mr. Barefoot has been known to oversimplify certain key issues and overstate certain benefits of the type of Coral product he is getting paid to promote. We think his overstatements have ultimately brought undue criticism to an excellent nutritional supplement. It should be noted that there are other less-visible experts on coral calcium that offer more unbiased perspectives.

Robert Barefoot Formula: Several companies, each with a different formula, either have Robert Barefoot's name on their formula or advertise that they represent him in one way or another. Robert Barefoot has licensed his name to a company which has developed several brands and markets them through several distributors. Confusing matters further, Mr. Barefoot has represented most of the Coral companies at one time or another, from Multi-Level Marketing companies to private enterprise. It has even been reported that Mr. Barefoot no longer owns the rights to the name Barefoot Coral Calcium.

Coral Microbes: Claims have been made, primarily by Mr. Bearfoot, bestowing numerous health benefiting qualities to these microbes. I don’t believe that they can exist in commercially available Coral Calcium products. Marine coral is heat treated and fossilized coral is ozonated, both processes will kill any living microbe.

Ionized Coral: All Okinawan Coral is ionized - that just means it takes on a positive charge. So don't be fooled by companies claiming to have a superior product because it is "Ionized" Coral Calcium. The important thing is that this ionization makes it far more useable for humans compared to regular calcium supplements.

Clinical Grade: Some brands claim to have a "clinical grade" product but no explanation is offered as to how this is different from any other Coral Calcium product. Coral is a natural source of calcium and minerals and there is no standard grading system including "clinical grade".

Physician Formulated: The majority of Coral Calcium products on the market are very simple formulations based on original research done by Dr. Carl Reich. Dr. Reich was the first to combine Calcium with Vitamin D in the treatment of disease and believed that a deficiency of these nutrients along with magnesium was a contributor to certain disease states. Basically, a physician's involvement doesn't really add any extra intrinsic benefit to the product.

Exclusive Rights: If any company owned the exclusive rights to Coral Calcium they would first, be multi-billionaires and second, there wouldn’t be so many competing companies creating such confusion in the market place. Coral Calcium was first introduced to America about 9 years ago through a Multi-level Marketing company selling it in tea bag form. Later the capsules became more popular because of ease and taste.
