General Information About Power Vision's Ingredients:

Anthocyanins: May improve eyesight by other mechanisms. In a French study conducted in 1964, researchers vision-tested 36 people for their ability to adapt to light and dark both before and after taking bilberry anthocyanins. For several hours after supplementation, their eyesight improved significantly, although the effect wore off within 24 hours.  A recent Japanese study found that people taking anthocyanins adapted better to the dark and had less eye fatigue than those in the placebo group.

Lycopene: Is a powerful antioxidant carotenoid and the pigment that gives tomatoes, watermelon, and pink grapefruit their characteristic red color. Clinical studies have also indicated that lycopene works to support cardiovascular health and immune function.  In addition, epidemiological studies have determined that lycopene may be particularly important for the support of eye health, prostate health, as well as for the health of the digestive tract.

Zeaxanthin: Studies showed that light damage in the retina was strongly influenced by the amount of zeaxanthin in the retina, and that significantly greater retinal protection was provided at levels higher than those normally occurring in the diet.  Zeaxanthin has been extensively studied for safety and has been reviewed as a dietary ingredient by the FDA.  We hope this work further stimulates interest in clinical trials, and believe that zeaxanthin has a potential to eventually complement other strategies to improve the treatment of this vision-robbing disease.

Lutein: Data from the AREDS* Study shows a therapeutic benefit for lutein. In AREDS participants, a higher intake of lutein/zeaxanthin was associated with a decreased likelihood of having advanced age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts.

*The Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) is a major clinical trial sponsored by the National Eye Institute, one of the Federal government's National Institutes of Health.
